SLANDERING OTHERS AND PUBLIC SHAMING IN THE NAME OF JESUS CHRIST!?? WHAT YOU DON’T KNOW COULD DESTROY YOU AND EVEN EARN YOU CRIMINAL CHARGES!
The Bible strongly condemns slander, viewing it as a destructive sin that damages relationships and can even lead to divine judgment.
JESUS CHRIST, FRIEND OF SINNERS
For those in opposition, I would like for you to please give me one example where Jesus publicly shamed or slandered anyone. In fact, Jesus was slandered and publicly shamed for the sinners by the church of His day, not the other way around! And, Jesus ate with the sinners and showed them kindness as He witnessed to them. Not only was He a witness to them in word, but also in His actions.
The phrase “Jesus Christ, friend of sinners” stems from Jesus’s interactions with and association with people considered sinners by the religious establishment of the time, as documented in the Gospels. The term appears explicitly in Matthew 11:19 and Luke 7:34. Jesus was criticized for eating with tax collectors and sinners, a common practice that marked him as a friend to those considered outcasts by the religious leaders.
The Gospels record instances where Jesus interacted with tax collectors and sinners, often eating meals with them. These actions were seen as unusual and were met with disapproval by the religious leaders of the time. The Pharisees, who were strict followers of Jewish law, viewed Jesus’s association with these groups as a violation of their religious norms. They saw him as “a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners”. Jesus defended his actions, stating that he came not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance, highlighting his mission to seek and save the lost.
The phrase “friend of sinners” reflects Jesus’s willingness to associate with and love those who were marginalized and rejected by society. It emphasizes his inclusive nature and his compassion for all, regardless of their perceived status or sins.
So how is public shaming and slander walking in the footsteps of Jesus Christ who carried the weight of the cross and the sins of the world when He was innocent? Aren’t we supposed to be like Jesus Christ? And, note that it was the religious system who put Jesus Christ to death, not the world, just as it is today. It is we, the church, who have removed Jesus Christ as the head, replacing Him with an imposter, Satan, appearing as an angel of light! We have spiritually put Him to death!

And, were you aware that internet harassment lawyers receive calls from thousands of victims of online shaming each year? Having seen both sides of the issue, they list reasons you should think twice before shaming someone online.
Online shaming and slander can lead to harsh consequences for everyone involved, including:
- Ruining reputations and careers
- Causing severe psychological damage
- Being targeted or shamed yourself
- Civil and criminal lawsuits
- The Shaming Incident May Backfire on You
Not everyone who views your post will take your side. People may harass you, call you a bully, or accuse you of lying. Online shaming often attracts negative attention rather than support.
You Could Face Legal Consequences
If your post isn’t 100% true and harms someone’s reputation, you could be sued for:
- Defamation
- Online harassment
- Cyberbullying
- Invasion of privacy
Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress
You could also face criminal charges. According to studies, 4 in 10 Americans have experienced online harassment, and many states have added criminal statutes to protect victims.
In a recent example, two women tweeted allegations that Justin Bieber sexually assaulted them. Bieber’s attorneys filed a $20 million defamation lawsuit, claiming the allegations were “fabricated.”
So my friends, from a Biblical perspective and from a literal perspective in this world, you should THINK TWICE before making posts publicly shaming or slandering ANYONE! If someone decides to file a lawsuit against you, (and even with famous people it does indeed happen as seen in the example above), God will not help you because you are in direct opposition against what His word says to do!
Know and understand what the Bible means when it says to “expose evil” before you take it upon yourself to disobey God and the laws of the land in the name of being a Christian! A true Christian wholeheartedly serves Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace and the King who was publicly shamed and humiliated, though 100% innocent, so that we could be forgiven for our disobedience. The true shame is the condition of the hearts of the people of God today who claim to serve Jesus Christ and claim to love Him yet continuously choose to live in ignorance and disobey Him.
As Jesus Christ said Himself, “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments.” -John 14:15
BOTTOM OF THE LINE – we expose darkness, shining the light of Jesus Christ, by teaching the true gospel message of the Bible, including the Ten Commandments, and living as an example of Christ Himself. It is okay to expose false teachings; we must do that by teaching the TRUTH! But it is not okay to publicly shame or slander any person. That being said, it is also unprofitable to make public posts, videos and the like shaming and slandering people of the world who are not even part of the body of Christ. Instead, they desperately need our prayers and love that is found ONLY in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior! Amen!

Really great advice. It’s important to learn how to be critical if need-be without condemning someone. Thanks for the message!
